My Day in Court

Listening to Families Today to Help the Child Witnesses of Tomorrow

At the Child Witness Project, we never stop looking for ways to make it easier for children and teenagers who must testify in criminal court. To this end, we ask children and their parents or caregivers to tell us about their experiences in the court system. What did they think? Did they get enough information and support? What could have been done better?

Please help us to help others...

Here are some important things to know...

  • development of the "My Day in Court" forms was funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario

  • all material is available in both English and French

  • participation is voluntary: you don't have to complete the surveys if you don't want to

  • all information is kept strictly confidential

  • we don't use cookies or other ways to gather your e-mail address so your responses are anonymous

  • we never ask about the offences that were discussed in court

  • before helping a child complete the child survey, parents should read all the questions to ensure they are appropriate for the child's age, maturity and current emotional situation
