My Day in Court

Listening to Families Today to Help the Child Witnesses of Tomorrow

At the Child Witness Project, we never stop looking for ways to make it easier for children and teenagers who must testify in criminal court. To this end, we ask children and their parents or caregivers to tell us about their experiences in the court system. What did they think? Did they get enough information and support? What could have been done better?

Please help us to help others...

Our feedback survey has three versions, one each for parents, teenagers (age 12 and older) and for children under 12. Please take a few minutes and complete the survey on-line. It lets you send us your opinions anonymously through the Internet.

Here are some important things to know...

  • the "My Day in Court" project is funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario

  • all material is available in both English and French

  • participation is voluntary: you don't have to complete the surveys if you don't want to

  • all information is kept strictly confidential

  • we don't use cookies or other ways to gather your e-mail address so your responses are anonymous

  • we never ask about the offences that were discussed in court

  • before helping a child complete the child survey, parents should read all the questions to ensure they are appropriate for the child's age, maturity and current emotional state

  • if you have questions about this study or why we are asking for feedback, contact Dawn Lashbrook or Pamela Hurley
